Rosaria Battista

Stagiaire

With a Bachelor’s in Political Science and an MSc in Urban Management and Development, Rosaria embarked on her urbanism journey through her thesis “Global Cities and Environmental Justice,” critiquing Rome’s waste mismanagement. Throughout her studies, she discovered placemaking as her true calling, recognising its potential to transform communities and create thriving, inclusive, and sustainable cities. She is passionate about fostering diverse and vibrant public spaces that empower creative collaboration and connection.

In her new role at Placemaking Europe, Rosaria aims to utilise her multicultural background to advance innovative urban planning principles. Raised as an Italo-Thai across diverse cultural settings in South-East Asia, Australia, and Europe, her mixed identity and nomadic upbringing, lacking a singular place to call home, underscore her belief in the importance of belonging. She believes placemaking can nurture this feeling, enabling her to create a sense of home wherever she goes.

Rosaria’s current home is in Rotterdam. Outside of work you can find her cooking, mixing music with her friends, or training in her local pole studio.
