The City at Eye Level & Placemaking Training 2021

Quick and register now for the 6th City at Eye Level annual training coming fall. This will take place from the 8th till the 10th of September 2021.

Cities worldwide each face their own challenges according to their social and economic context to improve the quality of public space. But how do we create great streets and places where people want to be? Join our City at Eye Level Training and learn how to improve cities, streets and places by developing a people-centered approach to placemaking. Learn about analyzing places with placemaking games, develop a specific strategy by using the City at Eye Level toolbox and get inspired on how to create great streets and places for and by people.

The introductions and presentations, the group interaction, the group work – we have quickly learned we can all do these online now. Going outside is another matter, but we can map a place with pictures and streetview and show you exactly how a placemaking or a city at eye level game works.

Elements in the training

• The City at Eye Level: creating human scale streets with interaction between buildings and streets. We will learn about the mechanisms of creating great ‘plinths’ — active ground floors.

• Placemaking: turn public space into great places where people feel at home.

• Placemaking as part of a larger, long-term approach: the journey from Placemaking to Place-Led Development, Place Management and the business case of placemaking for system change.

• How to include the community in the co-creation of public space, in an inclusive and sustainable way.

• Learning by doing: hands-on tools to apply the new knowledge directly by means of the Eye Level Game and the Place Game. Apply the tools to inspiring cases in Amsterdam.

Practical information:

• This is an international edition (if international travel is possible again)! This means that this edition will be in English.
• Location: Amsterdam. The specific location will be announced later.
• The three-day program is every day from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Deadline for registration: August 22 2021.

• Regulier ticket for freelancers: € 1275,-*

This training is COVID-19 proof.

Because of COVID-19, we have decided to partially adjust our training formula. This training will be with smaller groups (max. 16 participants instead of the regular 30 participants), the training will take place at a larger location (a pleasant location with lots of outdoor space and separate areas) and we will be present with a smaller training team to ensure health of each participant and our own team. Due to these extra measures, we have adjusted our ticket price. We hope you appreciate our efforts and appreciate the added benefits of extra personal attention.
