Project Assistant & Researcher
Dr. Giorgos Chatzinakos is a human geographer with research and applied experience in participatory planning, action research, and placemaking. His work explores the intersection of geography and social theory, with an emphasis on community self-governance, cultural mapping, community building, and urban governance. His approach is centered on shaping strategies that foster local collaboration, promote the management of common resources, and support participatory processes for more inclusive urban policies.
Alongside his research on human-wildlife coexistence at Callisto, he serves as the Strategy & Community Development Manager at G.S. Iraklis. With a strong academic background, he has also lectured on Geography and Urban Ecology at universities in Greece and the UK covering subjects related to Geography, Urban Ecology, social theory, and participatory planning.
Giorgos collaborates with STIPO Greece as a Project Assistant & Researcher for the European project Youth Placemaking Beyond Borders (YPBB). In this role, he supports participatory planning initiatives, non-formal learning, and the active engagement of youth in shaping public spaces.
He may study cities, but deep down, he only truly finds peace when surrounded by mountains, forests, or bears.
